“It is what you read when you don’t have
to, that determines what you will be when you can’t help it” – Oscar Wilde.
The
48th International Kolkata Book Fair, Asia’s largest literary event creates a
space where global literary voices and cultural experiences converge. In an age
of digital distractions, this book fair effectively demonstrates the persistent
fascination that books hold. It is a place where the ideas ignite and the
written word continues to shape the world. Launched in 1976, this year, the
international book fair was held from January 28th to 9th February at Sector
II, Biddhanagar. Some of the prominent publishers taking part in this year’s
fair include Oxford, Harper Collins, Scholastic, Penguin Random House, etc.
From literary discussions to workshops, everything transformed the venue into a
vibrant hub of intellectual exchange, where ‘Germany’ was the theme country. A
bustling corner hosts the university stalls from all over Kolkata enriching the
fair’s educational atmosphere and spreading knowledge to the aspirants. One of
the spots was elevated by Adamas University, where they launched a range of
educational resources, including the Year Round GK Book 2025, the Ultimate Guide
for NEET & JEE, and other essential study materials. A Nukkad Natak, represented
by the media department, was a storytelling reflection of pressing social
issues, encouraging the audience to stand up for themselves and take action against the taboos in this society.

The on-ground interaction with the public
demonstrates the university’s commitment towards providing opportunities where
prospective students, researchers and individuals can learn about the academic
programs. The Kolkata International book fair is a vibrant celebration of
literature that unites millions. The sale helps the stalls promote and establish
in greater areas. It is where people engage with authors and publishers from
all over the world. It successfully reinforces the enduring importance of books
and showcases publications on various subjects. West Bengal Education Minister,
Bratya Basu said “the enthusiasm and the number of visitors at Kolkata book fair
will remain the biggest in Asia if not in the entire world”.
