Seikh Saheb Ali, a newly elected TMC Panchayat member shot dead in Bashirhat
A TMC panchayat member recently elected in the panchayat elections was shot dead in Haroa, North 24 Parganas district’s Bashirhat subdivision. The incident happened at Samla Bazar of Khasbalanda gram panchayat, where he was elected from. The victim, Sheikh Saheb Ali, was returning to his home, and he was attacked there. Five to seven persons blocked his way before firing at him, resulting in 8 to 10 bullet injuries on his head, back and chest. He died on the spot. The police said that Ali’s family got this news around 12:30 am that his body was lying on the road. His family and the local people protested by keeping his body on the street in front of the police. The protest lasted for two hours. Later, the police removed the body from the protest ground and sent it for autopsy to Haroa rural hospital; later, they sent the body to Bashirhat district hospital.

Bengal by-poll: CPM and Congress agree on a candidate for the seat won by BJP previously
TMC will look to make sure no repeat of Sagardighi. It has a good existence in Rajbanshi dominated Dhupguri seat, and BJP only won closely in 2021. The CPIM-Congress link in West Bengal anticipates pulling off a Sagardighi again in the forthcoming by-poll for the Dhupgiri assembly seat in Jalpaiguri. Recently the Congress Sagardighi MLA defected to the TMC. In Dhupguri, the CPIM is fielding Ishwar Chandra Roy, and he will be encouraged by the Congress party.

However, CPIM candidate Mamata Roy, also encouraged by the Congress party, got a praiseworthy 34.2 per cent of the votes.

the boy was not in danger anymore; he was recovering.

SUV strikes a bus in West Bengal's Nadia, killing two people and injuring three more

August 2023, when an SUV vehicle collided with a bus near NH 12 Fulia,
Santipur, in Nadia district. The collision resulted in the immediate death of
two individuals, while three others were heavily injured. The passenger in the
SUV was travelling to Mayapur from Kolkata's Belghoria.
