The Directorate of Enforcement on Saturday, September 10th, recovered rupees 5 crore stash of cash from searches carried out in Kolkata in connection with a mobile app fraud case which allegedly cheated investors out of their money, officials said.

The app, called E-Nuggets, initially rewarded investors with a commission and allowed withdrawal of the balance in their wallets. Allegedly, after earning the investor's trust, the investors began putting more money into the app, and were thereafter prevented from making withdrawals using various pretexts. Shortly after, all the user data was wiped, including all profiles, and all the investors lost their money.

The ED registered a case against Amir Khan (not to be confused with actor Aamir Khan), who launched the app, and bundles of cash were seized from the second floor of a house owned by Naser Khan, his father, according to the Indian Express.

The case is still developing.
