Legendary Bengali Film Director Tarun Majumdar dies today

Veteran film director Tarun Majumdar known for making compelling tales highlighting the life of middle-class families, died in the state-run SSKM Hospital on June 14 with old age ailments and kidney problems. He was 92.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed deep grief over the death of Majumdar and described his passing away as a
"big loss to the entertainment world".
Among his notable works are 'Kancher Swarga' (1962), 'Palatak' (1963), 'Kuheli' (1971), Shriman Prithviraj (1972), 'Balika Badhu' (1976), 'Thagini' (1974), 'Ganadevata' (1978), Dadar Kirti (1980), 'Bhalobasa Bhalobasa' (1986).
Darjeeling GTA election result 2022: TMC wins 320 out of 462 seats in Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad and sweeps CPI(M)
June 30, 2022: For the first time, Trinamool Congress won 320 out of the 462 seats in 22 gram panchayats in the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad and Darjeeling hills on Wednesday Elections. This stronghold gives Darjeeling a semi-autonomous governing body for the first time. BJP won 86 seats in this election and Congress 21 and CPI(M) won only 15 seats, while the independents gained 20 seats.
Regarding this winning CM Mamata Banerjee tweeted,
“Bengal choosers from north to south show formerly their overwhelming preference for our Ma- Mati- Manush candidates, while democracy smiles in the hills to thanks to our resolve. Salute to all!”
Gorkha Janamurti Morcha (GJM) and BJP boycotted the GTA polls of Darjeeling. But Anil Thapa BGPM is ready to form the board at the 45-member Gorkhaland Territorial Administration Board. The newly-formed Hamro party has won eight seats and the Independents comprised two-thirds of the total candidates fielded for the GTA elections.
“This win is dedicated to the people of North Bengal hills who have put their faith in us. We will work for the development of the people in this region,”Anil Thapa said after the results.
20-yr-old boy arrested for Making a Cracked app
June 29, 2022: Sudipta Sutradhar a 20-year-old boy was arrested by Alipurduar for making a cracked app. Kumargram police arrested him on Monday after a renowned channel complained about his cracked app. Viewers can watch shows, movies, and web series only by paying 25 rupees. How he created an app at the age of 20, the investigators are amazed and police are searching for the reason why he made a cracked app.
The spokesperson of that company said, " After 2 months of monitoring we get confirmed that illegally he is showing our shows with the same quality we have. After this, we complained against him.”
The SP said,
"The suspect was produced in the Alipurduar district court on Tuesday and the necessary legal way will be taken. "
West Bengal: A lady passenger alleges molestation and abuse by CRPF
A CRPF Jawan abused and assaulted a 24-year-old woman who was returning to her Durgapur home from Kolkata by Kalka mail. She fought and called Railway Policemen in the early hour of Tuesday and got him arrested. The incident happened around midnight when the train was approaching Durgapur station.
Other passengers also complained about Dhirendra Kumar Mishra who was roaming inside the couch wearing nothing but undergarments and was drunk too. His seniors made him wear trousers but he never bothered to wear a shirt. When the woman complained, the battalion in charge is requesting her to withdraw the complaint and justified the behavior of him being drunk.
Mukul Ray resigned as PAC Chairman
On June 27, TMC leader Mukul Roy citing ill-health resigned as the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. Mukul Roy, who had won the 2021 Assembly elections on a BJP ticket from the Krishnanagar Uttar constituency in Nadia district, again yet to resign as a BJP MLA.
In a letter to Speaker Biman Banerjee, Roy wrote, “I would submissively request you to accept my abdication from the post of chairman and as a member of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), West Bengal, as I am unfit to discharge my duties owing to ill-health. It has been an honor for me to serve as the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee.”,
Kolkata police summon was skipped by suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma
Nupur Sharna with her inflammatory comment on Prophet Muhammad triggered widespread violence in West Bengal. An FIR was registered against Nupur Sharma at pydhonie Police station on May 28 and again Ms. Nupur neglected the summons issued by the Kolkata police and skipped it on Sunday.
Sharma mailed Amherst Street Police station regarding her safety and she felt agitation of a possible assault on her if she visits Kolkata now. She asked for four weeks to appear before the police officers. Even she skipped the summons issued by Narkeldanga Police station siting same reason.
"We have received an email from Nupur Sharma in which she expressed her incapability to appear before officers of Amherst Street Police Station. She has sought four weeks, and said she stressed attacks on her if she comes to Kolkata," said the officer of Amherst Street Police Station.
