No power for BJP in 2024 says, CM, Mamata Banerjee at Martyrs Day rally

At the Martyrs Day rally on July 21, the West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee launches frontal attacks on the BJP criticizing them for trying to stifle the opposition with the help of central agencies contending that they do not have a role in the independence of India. 

CM further states that it’s time to break the shackles of the BJP government and to bring people’s government. 

 TMC made it clear that they will not be voting for the vice-presidential election.  

They also questioned the Union on the increase of GST.

Chatterjee was the State Education Minister when the Bengal Teacher Recruitment scam took place and was arrested on Saturday by the Enforcement Directorate on his alleged connection to the SSC scam.

It was reported that Chatterjee owns 3 luxury flats in Diamond City, Kolkata, out of which one was for his dogs only.

Mega Centers for the distribution of Covid vaccines  

Kolkata Municipal Corporation is planning to open new mega vaccination centers due to the rising demand for booster doses now recording 14000 doses per day out of about 17000+ recipients per day in Kolkata.  

According to the councilor Ashim Bose, “as demand for booster was picking up 2 mega centers of KMC in his ward have picked up the pace and is now giving vaccines to the 18+ people.” He also said that now the coming weeks he won’t have to worry about the vaccination.
  

Forest Fire: Kandi Forest, West Bengal 

On the 21st of July 2022, a forest fire broke out in the district of Murshidabad, W.B. Two firefighter trucks went there and took control of the situation. The reason for the fire is still under investigation. 

A truck overturned due to slippery roads 

On Thursday afternoon a truck overturned on the Garden Reach flyover with 17 passengers on board, while returning from the rally held at Esplanade on 21st July.  

The passengers were admitted to SSKM Hospital where 3 boarders were in critical condition and 5 of the were admitted to a trauma care center. 

According to the police, it crashed due to high speed and slippery roads caused by the rain. When the bystanders arrived, the driver had already fled from the accident spot.
