Didi sweeps over Kolkata Municipal Corporation polls with 134 seats out of 144




In the Kolkata Municipal Corporation polls the TMC retained power as the party won 134 out of 144 wards. According to ward-wise trends, the Left Front emerged as the main opposition in terms of vote share in most wards. While the TMC received 72 per cent of votes, the Left Front had the second-highest vote percentage with 11 per cent votes in 65 wards. Meanwhile, the BJP registered the second-highest vote percentage with eight per cent votes in 47 wards.


Won’t slash VAT in West Bengal, cut in fuel prices an eyewash: Mamata Banerjee




There will be no reduction in fuel prices says West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee during an Assembly Session. She further stated prices continued to rise for two consecutive years but now as UP election is near prices have been reduced. It is just a political move says CM. She also suggested Central Government has made a profit through fuel prices nothing less than 4 lakh crore rupees. She has demanded that State Government should be given equal rights of the profit made by central government.


20% price reduction on liquor from next week in state

Ahead of festive season and New Year season prices of India made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) are likely to drop by 20%. Department would announce a new duty on Tuesday. Since 2020 there is a decline in consumption of IMFL in state due to price revision during pandemic, which is almost 40% to 50% in two phases. West Bengal is a market of 14.1 million cases of hard IMFL that includes whisky, rum, vodka and 8 million of beer annually.
