After 21 months of COVID break, Kolkata Metro tokens are back

Metro Railways brings back old token systems from Thursday 25th November and registered a 15,405 rise in passenger count. This proves that there was high demand for single-travel tickets. 33K tokens sold on day 1. Maintaining COVID protocol, the tokens are going to be sanitized in the smartest and safest way for reuse.

Before the lockdown in March 2020, the metro tokens were washed with water and disinfectants and detergents after use, and because of these installed chips are damaged. This time, Metro Railways bought 40hi-tech ultraviolet sterilizers; this is much more effective in killing germs and does not affect the chips as well.

Metro Officials said that, in the coming weeks, the sale of tokens was expected to rise to 60,000 or 70,000 per day as more and more people gradually know about the circulations.
