Indonesia’s Sameru volcano erupts, people warned to stay away 

The sudden eruption of Java's biggest mountain cut local at surprise. Sameru is most active of Indonesia's many volcanoes. The ash clouds and pyroclastic flow destroyed the main bridge connecting the worst affected areas with the nearest main city. That made difficult to conduct the rescue mission. According to news, the early morning eruption killed at least 41people, left several injured and forced thousands of families into make shift shelters. Authorities warned people not to conduct any activity within 15 km southeast of the eruption centre.  

75 reported dead in Phillippines Typhoon Rai 

Officials stated at least 75 people reported dead in the strongest Typhoon Rai hit in Philippines this year. The storm made land hit upon one of the tourist islands in Philippines on Thursday. The storm hit the southern and central regions of the archipelago. It knocked out the communication and electricity. The Philippines ranked one of the susceptible countries hit by average 20 storms or typhoons every year.  

WHO: Omicron detected in 89 countries 

On aturday, World Health Organization said that, 'the Omicron variant of Coronavirus has been detected in 89 countries and Covid-19 variant involved cases are doubling every 1.5 to 3 days.  

India's Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu crowned Miss Universe 2021 

India's Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu crowned the new Miss Universe 2021 during the 70th Miss Universe pageant on December 13 at Eilat, Israel by beating 80 contestants. Actor and Model Sandhu started her journey in Pageantry winning the Time Face by representing Chandigarh at the age of 17. Before Sandhu, only two Indians have won the title of Miss Universe, actors Sushmita Sen in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000. Sandhu was crowned by her predecessor Andrea Meza of Mexico, who won the pageant in 2020. 

Explosion at Pakistan bank in Karachi kills 17 

Police said that the death toll of sewer explosion in Pakistan's biggest city Karachi reached 17 on Sunday. The blast destroyed the Habib Bank Limited (HBL) building constructed over the sewer. According to the news, a senior police officer stated that the explosion at the branch of HBL, Pakistan largest lender, could have been caused by gas leak.
