119 Padma Awards presented by President Ram Nath Kovind
In the list of 119 Padma Awards 7 Padma Vibhushan, 10 Padma Bhushan and 102 Padma Shri Awards are distributed by President this year. Padma awards were conferred in three awards- Padma Vibhushan, Padma Shree, and Padma Bhushan. It is India’s one of the highest civilian Award. The list comprises 7 Padma Vibhushan, 10 Padma Bhushan and 102 Padma Shri Awards. Moreover, 29 of the awardees are women, 16 awardees are posthumous and 1is a transgender awardee. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were also seen in ceremony encouraging people.
Threat of another virus: Norovirus
On Friday Kerala confirm 13 cases of norovirus from a veterinary college in Pookode near Vythiri in Wayanad district. A highly contagious virus transmits through close contact with infected people, touching contaminated surfaces, excrement and vomit of an infected person, or through contaminated food and water. State health minister Veena George issue some guidelines regarding the safety of people and ask people to be vigilant. Kerala is now becoming a state of pioneer viruses as again a new virus is spreading from Kerala.
5 Years of Overnight Shock
On 8 November 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced demonetization with objectives of checking terror-funding by Pakistan, the printing of counterfeit currency, black money and corruption. Later this huge step seems to be a failure and boon for the country as the common man, small scale industry and somehow the economy effected drastically. After demonetization, there is a huge surge in digital payments and the cash component did come down from about 12% of GDP to 7.5% of GDP. It is obvious that Demonetization cause huge damage to the economy but facts cannot be allowed to come in the way of the pre-determined conclusion that demonetisation could only benefit the economy.
Violence led to Amravati under 4 days curfew, Internet Shut
On Saturday Maharashtra city Amravati witnessed a violence as the mob threw stones at shops during the bandh (shut-down) allegedly organised by local BJP workers in protest against the rallies organized by Muslim organizations the day before to condemn the recent violence in Tripura, police said. During the early hours of the day, hundreds of people holding saffron flags in their hands came out on the streets and threw stones on shops of Rajkamal Chowk area later police lathi-charged to the protesters to bring the situation under control. City is under curfew for the next 4 days also in order to control rumour internet services are stopped for next few days.
Delhi closes schools for next one week
Air quality in Delhi continue to worsen as AIQ is a rise by 427 which is count as the most hazardous. CM Arvind Kejriwal announced online classes from Monday and government officials to work from home for the next 1 week. Government emphasises on improving the frequency of public transport services like buses and metros. Huge demand to stop diesel generators, burning of coal and firewood in restaurants and open-air eateries come from Central Pollution Control Board on Saturday evening. From a report, it’s concluded that breathing a day in Delhi is equal to smoke 20 cigarettes in a day.
