State to reopen schools from 16 November




After long virtual mood classes west Bengal is all set to reopen schools for classes 9 to 12 from Tuesday, school education department asked all schools to ensure that everyone follows Covid19 safety protocols. Attendance is not mandatory, So it's all up to parents or students who wants to join classes or not as taking good care of health is the major priority. As per the report in PTI mention that some of the schools in Kolkata might ask students to come to schools for practical sessions only the rest of the classes will be done in a virtual mood. Keeping in mind about board exams in the offline mood it is necessary for students to involve and interact with the school environment.


Light shower in parts of Kolkata, people enjoy a chill weekend



Kolkata receives a sprinkle of rain on Saturday morning, a low pressure formed across Tamil Nadu and Odisha moved up north Bengal that trigger clouds and is set to lead to more rain on Sunday and Monday giving people a chill weekend. The temperature which was approx. 27 degrees early of the week now till weekends drops to approx. 23 degrees Celsius. It is expected that clouds to persist till Tuesday and rain will continue or get moderate till Monday.


Municipal polls to be held on Dec 19


Bengal state election commission allow the state government to hold elections in Kolkata and Howrah on December 19. Election for 112 civic bodies are pending since 2020 as a pandemic is a fork on the road for the elections not being held. Earlier cases had been filled in the Calcutta high court and Supreme Court on this.


Won’t slash VAT in West Bengal, cut in fuel prices an eyewash: Mamata Banerjee



There will be no reduction in fuel prices says West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee during an assembly session, prices continued to rise for 2 consecutive years but now as the UP election is near prices have been reduced, It is just a political move says CM. She also suggested the central government has made a profit through fuel prices nothing less than 4lakh crore rupees. She has demanded that the state government should be given equal rights to the profit made by the central government.



20% price reduction on liquor from next week in state

Ahead of the festive season and New Year season prices of India made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) are likely to drop by 20%, the department would announce a new duty on Tuesday. Since 2020 there is a decline in Consumption of IMFL in the state due to price revision during pandemics which is almost 40 to 50% in two phases. West Bengal is a market of 14.1 million cases of hard IMFL that includes whisky, rum, vodka and 8 million beer annually.
