Babul Supriyo transfers allegiance to TMC months after quitting politics
After announcing retirement from politics, a month ago, former Asansol MP and BJP member Babul Supriyo joined Trinamool Congress on Saturday. He was formally introduced as a TMC member by the AITMC General secretary Abhishek Banerjee and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’ Brian. Babul stated that he was assured by Mamata Banerjee that he would be provided with the help he needed to continue his works for the people.
Bengal emerges as the safest state second time in a row as NCRB released report
According to the reports released by National Crimes Report Bureau (NCRB), Kolkata has topped the list of the safest cities to reside in with the least cognizant records of crimes. Kolkata scored 129.5 followed by Hyderabad (233) and Mumbai (318.6) while the national average was 810.3.
Children around Bengal infected by viral fever, 6 dead
Bengal has recorded the death of six children this week with hundred other children infected from viral fever. The deaths occurred in the districts of Jalpaiguri (3), Malda (2) and Uttardinajpur (1). The general symptoms are of Pneumonia with dysentery, high fever and fall in platelet count.
Priyanka Tibrewal in controversy before the by polls
Just before the upcoming by-poll elections at the end of this month, BJP’s Bhowanipore candidate, Priyanka Tibrewal ran into controversy with the Election Commission. After receiving a so-cause notice from the commission, Tibrewal stated she leaves such notices on unread or tears them off. Kunal Ghosh, TMC State secretary, marked these words as derogatory.
Kolkata Police to take measures to check the rise in Cyber Crimes
Due to an increased online presence and internet users in the City of Joy post-pandemic, Kolkata police is beginning to take steps against the five times increase in the cyber crime rate in last 2 years. There was a rise of 140 cases in 2020 in comparison to 2018.
