Heavy rain batters Kolkata, leaves the part of the city waterlogged
West Bengal is facing heavy rainfall from the last week of July. The last three days of the week showered the city with heavy and non-stop rainfall leading the city of joy towards the flood-like situation. The unstoppable rain caused waterlogging on the main roads, railway stations in the main city, the situation was worst in the interior rural districts of Bengal. Roads remain submerged in water causing heavy traffic during office hours. The meteorological department predicted this storm and rainfall and are still suggesting that parts of south Bengal can witness heavy rainfall.
NCB busts "high-quality" cannabis global supply racket; three culprits held

The NCB on Saturday (August 7) busted an international cannabis smuggling racket operating from the different courier service centres in Kolkata. NCB seized around 20kgs of cannabis which is said to be the world's strongest marijuana. It is special green cannabis that is being imported from Canada and the USA. The members of the racket said it to be toys and clothes from abroad. Three culprits were held in the case two young women of around 25 years of age and one male supporting them.
Fuel Tankers strike withdrawn amid fuel crisis across South-Bengal
The strike by fuel tankers was withdrawn on Saturday afternoon because of the fuel crisis across South Bengal. The Indian Oil Corp put on hold the new transportation rates amid the crisis because more than 100 oil pumps in South Bengal ran dry because of the ongoing strike since Thursday evening. The tankers association at IOC's Mourigram depot in Howrah, which serves the region was on strike over the reduction in fuel transportation rates as a new tender was floated. The strike caused the issue to the public and private transport system.
Schools and colleges in Bengal can possibly resume classes post Durga-puja

CM Banerjee said in a meeting of the Global Advisory Board,
"We will try to reopen schools and colleges after Durga-puja but it all depends on the ground situation that time. We will try to arrange for alternative days in schools and colleges for 50% population on each day.
She further add,
"The Government of Bengal is taking all the necessary precautions to prevent the deadly Covid-19 virus. The experts are predicting that the delta variant can spread across the country but we will try not to let the state get affected because of this."
Kolkata tea seller serves chai with a side of Kishore Kumar's tune goes viral on the internet
It is rightly said that Kishore Kumar's tunes and the city of joy have an evergreen love story. A tea seller named Paltan Nag from the city of joy was found serving tea with the side of Kishore Kumar's songs from the film "Namak Haram" at a street near Presidency College that goes viral on the internet. It is so evident that Kishore Kumar’s charm is evergreen and is not going to fade in the coming centuries.
