Shilpa Shetty Kundra, an actress, has filed a defamation suit in the Bombay High Court against 29 media persons and media outlets. After her businessman husband Raj Kundra was arrested for allegedly creating and distributing pornographic content, she accused them of "false reporting and maligning her reputation."

The court stated that imposing a broad gag order on the media to refrain from publishing anything negative about Shetty would have a “chilling impact on press freedom” and would amount to “pre-censorship” since it would be forced to decide what constituted good and fair journalism.
