Madan Mitra, the celebrated leader of the Trinamool Congress, declared that soon all the political parties except BJP would recognise that there is no other alternative than to go with Trinamool. “Long term strategy of TMC to destroy the fascist cruelty of the BJP Sarkar and I know many people from other states who are going to honour Khela Hobe on August 16 with the picture of one person that is Mamata Banerjee,” he added.

Bengal CM slammed PM Modi by questioning why the photo of Prime Minister is compulsory on vaccination certificates. Where is the freedom of people? Mamata Banerjee asked and added, “now allow your photo on death certificates too.

Around 30 villages in the Malda district flooded on Thursday night following a break in the water levels of the Ganga embankment. The river has already passed the extreme danger level (EDL), and more damage might cause. The district administration has withdrawn leave of all block and irrigation department employees amid allegations of poor relief.

West Bengal government removed Mahua Das from the post of president of the state higher secondary education council. She had highlighted the religion of the topper, saying this was the first time a Muslim girl had achieved the top spot. Das remarks about failed students led to social turmoil, vandalising schools, obstructing roads, and gheraoing teachers in protest across West Bengal.

IT firms have asked the West Bengal government to build up a data policy. The companies had demanded electricity permits for the forthcoming Silicon Valley hub at New Town. After an interactive conference with representatives of 125 IT companies, minister Partha Chatterjee told reporters that software giant Infosys gave assurance that it will soon begin work on its design centre in New Town and complete it in 20 months.
