On Friday, 2nd July, undersea gas pipeline damage caused fire in the southern waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Soon, after the fire broke out social media platforms were flooded with pictures of ocean on fire. It took around 5 hours to control the fire. Mexican state oil company, Pemex workers used liquid nitrogen to douse it.

Heatwaves in the United States and Canada

Toll rises in Canada, and the United States due to record-breaking temperatures. Canada broke its temperature record for a third straight day on Tuesday – 49.6 C in Lytton, British Columbia. Police in Canada responded to more than 130 sudden deaths due to the heat waves. These people were elderly and were suffering from health hazards causing dozens of deaths.


Deadly landslides in Japan

Rescuers at site of calamity

With torrential rain that triggered floods and landslides on Saturday hit the seaside city of Atami, Japan, 90 km (60 miles) southwest of Tokyo. A total of 19 people were rescued, with 2 injured, 2 killed and about 130 buildings were affected after floods and cascading mud collapsed and half-submerged houses. 


Covishield and Covaxin: Which EU countries recognize these Covid-19 vaccines




According to BBC reports, 7 EU countries have approved India's vaccines for arriving travelers. Covishield is now eligible for travel to Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Greece, Ireland, Spain, Iceland and Switzerland. Estonia will recognize both. The move had come amid reports that Covishield was not yet eligible for EU's digital green certificate which is currently only for EU citizens. Covishield is the Indian-made version of AstraZeneca's Vaxzevria jab, which has been authorised in the EU.


Philippine air force aircraft crash on Sunday

A Philippine air force aircraft Lockheed C-130 Hercules carrying 92 military troops crashed at 11.30 local time. It happened in a few kms from the town of Jojo Island. It killed at least 45 people, mainly military personnel and 3 civilians on ground. While at least dozens were rescued from the burning wreckage later they were being treated in nearby military hospital.
