Amidst, the deadly second wave of Covid-19 pandemic the state was under lockdown and night curfews. With the number of cases and death rates going down people have begun to violate Covid-19 norms and started to celebrate and are moving to different places for vacation in huge numbers.
Reportedly, the official figure shows that around 32,425 tourists reached the outskirts of Nainital, and 32,000 travelled to Mussoorie in Uttarakhand over the last weekend amid the Covid-19 Pandemic. Out of these only, 32,900 people were allowed in Nainital and only 20, 000 in Mussoorie rest were turned back and were penalized for breaking the norms. Police collected Rs. 74,400 from the tourists.

Homegrown restaurant aggregator and food delivery platform Zomato opened its initial public offering (IPO) from July 14-16. The price band of Zomato is fixed at Rs. 72-76 per share and the company aims to raise Rs. 9,375 crores through the offer. It's the biggest IPO in India since SBI Cards and Payment Services Rs. 10, 341 crore IPO in March 2020.

Himachal Pradesh, with a total eligible population of 58 lakh, is aiming to achieve 100 percent first-dose coverage by 15 August. The hill state is racing ahead of the rest of the country with covid vaccination, recording 62 percent first-dose coverage which is more than the state's total average which is 23.4%. Himachal Pradesh was supposed to complete its first drive of vaccination by the end of July, but because of limitations and insufficiency of vaccination, it extended it to mid of August.

Danish Siddique, a Reuters journalist who was embedded with Afghan Special Forces, was killed in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He was reporting their operations against the Taliban in the region. The photojournalist headed the Reuters Multimedia team in India.
His work during the Citizenship (Amendment) Act protests, and the second wave of the pandemic in India had been widely used across media publications. His drone images of burning funeral pyres caught global attention to how bad things were in India at that time. Indian mourns this huge loss.

In an attempt to reduce population, Uttar Pradesh, the most heavily populated state in India with over 200 million people, on July 11 released a new draft population policy. Those with more than two children will be barred from applying for government jobs, seeking promotions or benefiting from government subsidies, the policy said.
However, experts say that India needs to have the right frame of mind to accept policies like this. In this current scenario, this might not give the desired effects and can lead to a rise in female foeticide, unsafe abortions leading to the woman's death, or poor health.

WhatsApp in its compliances report under the new IT rules revealed that it banned 20 lakh Indian accounts from May 15- June 15. According to a report they said, "Our top focus is preventing accounts from sending and harmful and unwanted messages. WhatsApp revealed that 95% of such bans are due to the unauthorized use of automated or bulk messaging (spam).”
