ISA director-general, Ajay Mathur suggests solar power as a solution to save on electricity bills in Kolkata

On June 16, Ajay Mathur, director-general, International Solar Alliance (ISA) at environment and energy conclave of Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industries talked to Times of India, about the adaptation of solar power as a solution to decrease electricity bills in Kolkata.
He said, "Electricity bills in Kolkata can drastically drop if we adopt solar power that is the cheapest at Rs. 1.99 per unit while thermal power generation costs to up to 3.05 units. This can save money and electricity and is a very important measure.”

On the occasion of revered Bengali Poet Atul Prasad Sen's 150th birthday anniversary year, Singer Riddhi Bandopadhyay and members of her music academy hosted a digital event, Ek Nirbak Jugosandhi, recently.
Riddhi, along with inter-disciplinary artist Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee performed at the show, among others. They performed on the song which the Poet has written 'Ami Bandhinu Tomartire Tarani Amar’ composed by the poet.

Cops quell fears after WhatsApp audio clip goes viral

The number of forgery cases is going beyond acceptance, it's a matter of concern these days. There should be a reliable source, which will deter the circulation of fake news.
One such case was found in Kolkata where there were fake audio clips of the police near Mukundapur, Ajoy-Nagar, Sonarpur, Rajpur areas. Later, police have issued an advisory assuring that no resident needs to panic about their security after the audio clip goes viral.
Kolkata Metro resumes its operations on June 16, Covid curbs to continue till July 30

As per Kolkata Metro officials, 192 trains resumed running on its North-South route between Kavi Subhash and Dakshineshwar, and 48 services started operating on the East-West corridor from July 16, for the public.
The Mamata Banerjee led government amongst following laws and norms allowed the Metro to serve for 5 days in a week, with 50 percent capacity since July 16.
